Vietnam welcomed around 12.6 million international visitors in 2023, representing 70% of pre-COVID levels, according to information from the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT).
It also revealed it is aiming for full recovery in 2024 with a target visitor number of between 17 million and 18 million.
The country’s main source market last year was South Korea, which contributed 3.6 million arrivals, followed by China with 1.7 million. The latter exhibited a relatively slow recovery rate, however, of 30% compared with 2019.
More promising was the recovery rate of Korea, the USA, Taiwan, Thailand and Indonesia, while Spain, Germany, the UK and France were described as “upbeat”.
International arrivals also contributed VND678 trillion in tourism revenue, as per a report by VietnamNet.
