Paradise Hotel Busan has revealed that it will trial an “AI Serving Robot” as part of an ongoing plan to reduce face-to-face contact between people due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The trial will see the robot deployed at Nyx Grill & Wine restaurant for a three-month period where it will deliver food and collect used dishes from tables without the need for a human waitperson.
Paradise Hotel Busan, which includes Paradise Casino, is owned by Korea’s leading foreigner-only casino operator Paradise Co.
The company said Monday that its new “AI Serving Robot” was developed by KT Corp and is equipped with cutting-edge software such as 3D spatial mapping technology and autonomous driving. Its precise driving technology allows the robot to move between tables and flexibly avoid any obstacles it encounters.
“As non-face-to-face services using cutting-edge technologies such as robots have spread to the hotel industry, we have been quick to introduce robot serving services,” the hotel said in a statement. “We plan to continue to review the expansion of our non-face-to-face services.”
Paradise Co also operates Paradise Walkerhill in Seoul, Jeju Grand and its Incheon integrated resort, Paradise City.
