The number of visitor arrivals into the Philippines reached 1,662,491 in the three months to 31 March 2024, up 18.3% year-on-year and boosted by the increasing rate of return of Chinese tourists.
According to figures from the Department of Tourism, arrivals from China grew by 150.0% in 1Q24 to 109,568 – by far the highest growth rate of any key source tourism market. Japan was next highest in terms of year-on-year growth, up 63.2% to 105,347, while South Korean arrivals were up 26.0% versus 1Q23 to 458,619.
South Korea continues to rank as the No 1 source market for visitor arrivals into the Philippines, followed by the United States, China, Japan and Australia.
Of the 1,662,491 total arrivals throughout Q1, overseas Filipinos comprised 112,668 with foreigner arrivals up by 21.3% to 1,568,226.
February saw the highest number of total arrivals at 582,332, followed by January with 574,439 and March with 505,720.
