Macau’s gaming operators generated gross gaming revenues of MOP$16.04 billion (US$1.99 billion) in November, up 435% year-on-year although down on the post-COVID record of MOP$19.5 billion (US$2.42 billion) in October.
The November result continued the SAR’s strong recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, with analysts having estimated that mass gaming revenues are already back to 100% or better of 2019 levels, pushing FY23 revenues above US$20 billion.
It had previously been anticipated that November GGR would be lower than October, which was aided by the National Day Golden Week holiday.
For the first 11 months of 2023 combined, GGR is up 325% year-on-year to MOP$164.5 billion (US$20.4 billion). This means GGR has climbed back to 61% of the MOP$269.6 billion (US$33.5 billion) reported across the same period in 2019.
The Macau SAR Government has already stated its belief that GGR can reach US$27 billion in 2024, aided by increasing promotion to more international tourist markets.
