Wynn Macau Ltd on Friday launched the first project by a concessionaire to revitalize an old district, with the “Rua da Felicidade Pedestrian Zone” to be implemented on a trial basis from 11am to 1am daily. The project was first announced by the government in mid-July.
The project is centered on Rua da Felicidade, which has been turned into a pedestrian zone with large-scale art installations, a cultural and creative market, art and cultural events, an interactive check-in game and night market experience.
The check-in game sees around 60 check-in signs set up to enable visitors to scan QR codes in WeChat to obtain introductions to the landmarks and merchants. It also offers them a chance to win prizes from shops and market stalls around Rua da Felicidade and cash vouchers from a total of 40 SMEs as a form of encouraging them to spend more. It is estimated that the interactive check-in game will attract the participation of over 150,000 people and benefit over 60 SMEs.
According to Wynn, the various attractions in the Rua da Felicidade Pedestrian Zone create a vibrant and artistic atmosphere filled with cultural and tourism experiences, driving the business and development of local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the district.
As the project will be implemented during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, Wynn has set up Mid-Autumn lanterns and other decorations throughout the district. In addition, Wynn has invited nearly 20 mainland and local artists to perform for the public and visitors.
Wynn said it will continue to cooperate with the Macau SAR Government’s ‘1+4’ moderate diversified development strategy and cooperate with different stakeholders in the community, contributing to the development of non-gaming and community tourism in Macau.
