New Zealand’s SkyCity Entertainment Group has announced the appointment of Shaun Philp to the position of Chief People and Culture Officer.

Philp, who is described by SkyCity as a “senior human resources executive with expertise in supporting leadership and culture transformation”, will start his new role from 4 September, pending regulatory approvals, with Greg McNair to cover the role in the interim. McNair is currently General Manager Employee Services – People and Culture Auckland.

SkyCity said Philp will join the company from telecommunications firm Chorus New Zealand Ltd where he has held the role of Chief People Officer since 2017. He previously held various leadership roles in Australia and New Zealand, including General Manager Human Resources at AMP New Zealand.

While SkyCity didn’t outline the reasons for Philp’s appointment, People Officers are traditionally hired to help build and maintain a company’s culture.
