Leading casino licensees from the Clark Freeport Zone joined PAGCOR in recent weeks to provide and distribute relief packs to residents impacted by Super Typhoon Karding.

According to information from the gaming regulator, around 17,500 relief packs worth Php9 million (US$153,000) have been delivered over the past two weeks to Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Marikina, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Quezon City, Quezon Province, Tarlac and Zambales.

These have included 3,000 food and non-food items from PAGCOR itself.

Casino licensees to have provided assistance include Hann Casino Resort, formerly known as Widus Hotel and Casino, through its charitable arm Widus Foundation, Inc (WFI) by distributing 1,000 packs of food and non-food items to heavily affected residents in San Antonio, Nueva Ecija and 1,500 packs to those in Aurora Province.

Stotsenberg Foundation, Inc, the charitable arm of Stotsenberg Leisure Park and Hotel Corporation, donated 2,000 food packs worth Php500,000 (US$8,500) to affected locals in Victoria, Tarlac and Cabangan, Zambales, while Royce Hotel and Casino Foundation distributed 1,500 food packs each to Quezon City and Pampanga worth Php1.5 million (US$25,500).

Bridges of Benevolent Initiative Foundation, Inc., the charitable arm of Midori Clark Hotel and Casino, donated 4,000 food packs to Pampanga, Bulacan and Bataan, amounting to Php2 million (US$34,000).

Meanwhile, Resorts World Philippines Cultural Heritage Foundation, Inc., the charitable arm of Travellers International Hotel Group, Inc – operator of Manila’s Newport World Resorts, delivered 3,000 food packs worth Php1.5 million (US$25,500) to Quezon Province.

PAGCOR said it mandates its casino licensees to establish foundations to help fund Corporate Social Responsibility programs related to education, infrastructure, health facilities, environmental preservation and restoration of cultural heritage.
