IAG will celebrate the first ever Philippines edition of the Asian Gaming Power 50 Black Tie Gala Dinner under the theme “New City, Fresh Beginnings”.
The Asian Gaming Power 50 Black Tie Gala Dinner will, for the first time in its 15-year history, be held in Manila in 2022 and celebrated with the theme, “New City, Fresh Beginnings”.
This will be the third year in which IAG’s Power 50 Gala Dinner has incorporated a specific theme to recognize the challenges and opportunities presented by the global COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2020, the theme was “Standing Together in 2020” which acknowledged the need to unite in the face of the pandemic as it continued to create significant headwinds for the industry all across Asia.
In 2021, the theme was “We Emerge Stronger” – a call to arms and positive reinforcement that our industry was ready to return stronger than ever. Last year’s Gala Dinner also saw guest numbers increased from 240 in 2020 back to 340 in line with less restrictive health guidelines.
But with Macau having regressed on the back of China’s strict zero-COVID policy that remains to this day, IAG has made the move and relocated the Asian Gaming Power 50 Black Tie Gala Dinner to City of Dreams Manila on Friday 4 November 2022.
The theme “New City, Fresh Beginnings” highlights this important sea change while acknowledging the rising influence of the Philippines gaming market as a center of both the land-based and online gaming industries in the region. With the Philippines reopened to the world and business volumes showing tremendous signs of recovery, Manila was an obvious choice to host this prestigious annual event as we welcome friends both new and old to celebrate another 12 months in the company of industry colleagues.
“Over the past 14 years, the Asian Gaming Power 50 and the Power 50 Gala Dinner have become cornerstone annual events of the Asian gaming industry,” said IAG’s Managing Editor Ben Blaschke.
“While the decision to relocate the Gala Dinner out of Macau for the first time in 2022 was in many ways agonizing given the wonderful support we’ve received from the industry over the years, it is also with tremendous excitement that we prepare to host the event in Manila for the first time.
“Having visited the Philippines only recently for the first time since the pandemic began, it is clear that there is a buzz in the air again as well as genuine appreciation that we are giving the Philippines a long-awaited opportunity to host our most important annual event.
“We look forward to welcoming our industry friends – many of them for the very first time – to the Asian Gaming Power 50 Black Tie Gala Dinner in November.”
The Asian Gaming Power 50 Black Tie Gala Dinner will see IAG count down this year’s “Big 50” while guests enjoy a fine dining meal, lively entertainment and the company of many industry peers and influencers. The list will be announced in a variety of interesting ways by renowned VIPs.
