Melco Resorts & Entertainment has revealed that it will continue the operation of its satellite casino, Grand Dragon Casino, until the end of the year after signing a six-month extension to the company’s gaming sub-concession on Thursday.

Grand Dragon was one of four casinos previously managed by former Macau legislator Chan Meng Kam’s Golden Dragon Group, which announced in March that it would shutter all four due to new satellite casino regulations included the SAR’s amended gaming law. Three of those casinos – Casino Golden Dragon, Casino Royal Dragon and Casino Million Dragon – were operated under the license of SJM Resorts with Grand Dragon Casino under the license of Melco Resorts.

With SJM having recently revealed that it would take over the operations of Casino Golden Dragon, Casino Royal Dragon and Casino Million Dragon, Melco did the same on Thursday with Grand Dragon Casino to continue until at least 31 December 2022.

“With the implementation of the amended gaming law and the extension of its gaming sub-concession, the operation of Grand Dragon Casino will continue beyond 27 June 2022 with its employees continuing to be fully engaged,” it said.

Fellow Macau concessionaire Galaxy Entertainment Group revealed last week that it was suspending the operations of two satellite casinos operating under its license – Rio Casino and President Casino – but the third, Waldo Casino, will remain in operation until the end of the year.
