The Second Kyushu IR Business Seminar will be held online on 10 December as part of Kyushu’s bid for an IR in Sasebo, Nagasaki. The organizer is the Kyushu IR Promotion Council (KIRC).
KIRC was launched on 12 April 2021 to carry out activities in collaboration with the Kyushu business community such as the Kyushu Economic Federation, as well as the administrations and local governments in Kyushu, in order to successfully win the Nagasaki IR bid and to facilitate a high economic ripple effect throughout Kyushu.
The theme of this seminar is, “IR industry business examples and development of regional industries.”
The seminar will be led off by Sumio Kuratomi, Chairman of the Kyushu Economic Federation, and Akio Hayashi, Representative Director of Casinos Austria International Japan.
There are four scheduled speakers including Yujin Katsube, editor of the Macau Shimbun, who will discuss the influence of IRs on local industry and regional contributions of IR operators in Macau and in Japan from a Macau perspective.
Emmanuel Stroobant, founder of a restaurant with two Michelin stars in Singapore, and Michael Chan, Japanese market advisor for the Stroobant Group, will discuss the economic growth and development experienced by local Singaporean residents thanks to IRs, and the characteristic differences between non-IR resorts and IRs in terms of business and operational planning.
Finally, Mototsugu Asada, Executive Director of Operations and General Manager of KPG Hotel & Resort, will explore differences in working at an IR versus other resorts in terms of procurement recruiting and local business partnerships.
