The Philippines’ Department of Tourism (DOT) has granted permission for 13 hotels in the so-called NCR (National Capital Region) Plus, comprising Metro Manila and the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal, to accept guests while under General Community Quarantine.
The hotels, offering a combined 5,986 rooms, include hotels at integrated resorts City of Dreams Manila, Okada Manila, Resorts World Manila and Solaire Resort & Casino.
The DOT’s list comprises Grand Hyatt Hotel, Okada Manila Hotel, Shangri-la at the Fort, Nobu Hotel (City of Dreams), Joy Nostalg Hotel & Suites Manila, EDSA Shangri-la Manila, Solaire Resort, Hyatt Regency and Nuwa Hotel at City of Dreams, The Peninsula Manila, Aruga by Rockwell, Sheraton Manila Hotel (RWM) and Hilton Manila (RWM)
“While the IATF allowed our request to permit leisure travel under the current quarantine condition, we would like to remind everyone that the health and safety of our guests and tourism workers remain the utmost priority,” said DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.
“These staycation hotels, all of which are star-rated, have the capacity and have been inspected and oriented on the new normal protocols to ensure this.”
The use of approved staycation hotels is permitted under a resolution previously passed by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.
According to the DOT’s guidelines, staycation guests must only be from within the NCR Plus area and be within the ages of 18 and 65.
Manila’s casinos closed their doors for a second time in late March due to a rising wave of COVID-19 infections, although those located within IRs have since welcomed back invited guests.
