VICE CHAIRMAN, COO AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Wynn Macau Ltd
POWER SCORE: 1,287
POSITION LAST YEAR: 13
CLAIMS TO FAME
- Go-to person for marketing and strategic development of Wynn Macau since inception
- Native Chinese with deep experience in international marketing
With its exposure to the premium end of the market, it is perhaps no surprise that Wynn Macau has been among the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. And with the not so small matter of license re-tendering now less than two years away, that means the role of the company’s Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer, Linda Chen, is more important than ever.
One half of Wynn’s key “on the ground” leadership team alongside Ian Coughlan, Chen fulfils two vitally important duties at Wynn Macau Ltd of which government relations will be essential in the countdown to the re-tendering process. She has been busy these past few years building up her Chinese network in support of Wynn’s re-tender bid.
Her other key duties center around the VIP space with Chen considered the company’s frontline link to junkets. With that in mind, the 52-year-old perhaps understands better than most the challenges facing that side of the industry in the near-term.
Chen’s experience remains invaluable to Wynn Macau as it prepares to start development of the second phase of its flagship Macau IR, Wynn Palace.
Part of the opening teams of three major Las Vegas resorts – The Mirage in 1989, MGM Grand in 1993 and Bellagio in 1998 –she served as Executive Vice President of International Marketing for Bellagio and as Executive Vice President of International Marketing for all of MGM Mirage (now MGM Resorts International).
She joined Wynn for the second time in her career in 2002 and came to Macau when Wynn Resorts won its casino concession that year. Her star has been on the rise ever since.
