Melco Resorts & Entertainment launched a new initiative called “Simple Acts of Kindness” earlier this year and on Wednesday it was Inside Asian Gaming on the receiving end as a team of Melco volunteers arrived to clean and sanitize the IAG office!
Equipped with professional sanitizing tools, the 10 Melco volunteers spent over an hour cleaning every surface they could find before posing for photos for the IAG team.
“When we assist the elderly centers with cleaning and sanitizing, those elderly people are always very happy and welcome us,” one of their volunteers said of their experience with the Simple Acts of Kindness initiative.
“But we can’t interact with them closely due to the need of social distancing. We hope the pandemic will be over soon.”
Since first launching the initiative in February, around 6,000 Melco volunteers have participated in over 500 volunteer activities across the city. It is based on the principle that little things can have a big impact, and each person can do something to touch peoples’ hearts.
“Especially in these times of uncertainty and adversity, we stand with the Macau SAR government in offering our wholehearted support to local SMEs who form the backbone of the city’s economy,” said Melco Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho.
“We are hugely grateful to our employees for their enthusiastic participation to enact Melco’s Simple Acts of Kindness philosophy, promoting thoughtfulness and appreciation towards our local community.”
Melco has also launched the “Melco & Colleagues Giving Stores” in June, which provides community beneficiaries access to over 50,000 donated goods in new or almost new condition from Melco employees or colleagues. Most goods are free while some larger items are available at a fraction of the normal price. Around 500 underprivileged families will benefit from the stores.
