Sands China Ltd has announced it is donating 500,000 medical facemasks to the Macao SAR government as part of the company’s pledge to support Macau’s efforts to combat the Coronavirus.
The first batch of 300,000 masks was presented to Macao Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Ao Ieong U at The Parisian Macao on Tuesday and comes after the company previously donated MOP$25 million to relief efforts in both Hubei and Macau.
“As a company rooted in Macau, Sands China considers it as part of our corporate social responsibility to continually look out for the wellbeing of the Macao community and to assist in periods of need,” said Sands China President, Dr Wilfred Wong.
“Our thoughts are with the entire local community during this time of caution, and our company is pleased to be able to respond to the urgent need for facemasks in Macau as we cooperate with the Macau government in its virus prevention efforts. We are confident that, with vigilance and collective action, Macau will navigate through this crisis successfully.”
Sands China said it was taking advantage of its global procurement network in order to obtain the facemasks at a time when stocks are in limited supply.
