Evan Winkler has been a key player behind the scenes since joining Melco in 2016. His 4 September appointment as Melco Resorts President takes him out of the shadows and into the spotlight.

According to Melco’s announcement, Winkler has responsibility for day-to-day operations globally, reporting directly to Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho, who assigned himself a central role in operations three years ago. Ho handed off operations on a high note. Melco Resorts’ second quarter operating revenue reached US$1.4 billion, up 17% from a year ago, with adjusted property EBITDA of US$442 million, up 24%.

Winkler came to Melco after nearly 20 years on Wall Street. As an investment banker, he participated in multiple projects involving Melco. That relationship led to him joining group holding company Melco International as Managing Director, and he added the title of President two years later.
