The fourth largest bank in Japan, Resona Bank, has established a cross-departmental project team dedicated to the promotion of business related to the 2025 World Expo and Osaka’s IR bid.
The team plans to help match local Kansai businesses with IR operators to breathe life into the local economy, according to Sankei Shimbun and other news sources.
The team is made up of approximately 50 people from 16 departments in a Holdings subsidy and has been given the moniker “Local Business Creation Project.” It was first launched in June.
The team will officially begin activities in November, kicking things off at a seminar with a guest speaker from MGM Resorts International.
It will largely serve the role of scouting business for local companies. In addition to the World Expo and IR bid, the team will provide information on the recently increased consumption tax and cashless payment options for the influx of overseas tourists to Japan, offering support to local businesses.
