Nagasaki has taken another step forward in its quest for an IR with Sasebo city and Dutch-inspired theme park Huis Ten Bosch agreeing to a selling price of JPY20.5 billion (US$189 million) for a plot of land singled out as the future IR site.
After consulting with the city council, the city and Huis Ten Bosch plan to conclude a pledge agreement for sale before the end of the year, according to the Nikkei.
The candidate site covers 30 hectares on the Huis Ten Bosch property, which houses overnight accommodation facilities such as Hotel Europe.
If the bid is successful, rights to the sale contract will transfer from Sasebo city to the IR operator, so there will be no financial burden on the city. Huis Ten Bosch, Nagasaki prefecture and Sasebo city have a basic agreement to sell the land on the theme park’s property.
