Las Vegas Sands’ Singapore integrated resort, Marina Bay Sands (MBS), has launched a new employment drive aiming to add another 700 positions to its current 10,000-strong workforce.
MBS hosted its latest job fair on Sunday 24 and Monday 25 February as part of its plan to reach 11,000 employees by the end of 2019. The new positions on offer include everything from “bartenders to sous chefs, security guards to butlers and slot attendants”, the company said.
MBS also announced that it will roll out a new scheme offering local employees flexible work arrangements plus benefits, with weekly work hours of between 12 and 22 hours for those adopting the scheme.
It follows the introduction of a Cross-Deployment Scheme in 2018, starting with its hotel operations arm. The programme allows staff to spend time in different job functions in the hotel, training and learning new skills in Front Office, F&B, Guest Services, Valet and Housekeeping.
“A successful hotelier is a master of all trades,” said Pek Chin Siong, Vice President of Hotel Operations. “He can be a butler to our VIP guests, control the movement of vehicular traffic, while ensuring our hotel rooms are quickly turned over in time for check in. These skill sets are even more acutely needed in a hotel as dynamic and fast-moving as Marina Bay Sands.”
