The HCJ2019 International Hotel & Restaurant Show is currently being held from 19 to 22 February at Tokyo Big Sight, the leading Japanese MICE facility, which is also simultaneously hosting the Food Catering Show and the Food Service Equipment Show. It is a huge event, hosting over 60,000 visitors a year.
Ohta Publications Co., Ltd, partner of IAG, is exhibiting this year via their leading hotel/restaurant industry magazine Hoteres.
On Wednesday the Managing Director of Ohta Publications, Minoru Murakami, gave a presentation at a seminar titled,“Tourist industry legal knowledge for all.”
Murakami explained that legislation, including that surrounding IRs, was vital for Japan to become a true tourist destination and emphasized the need for speed with new progressive legislation such as that covering labor reform and the improvement of immigration law and foreigner employment.
He also raised issues that would currently cause problems for hotels and touched on risks such as complaint handling, no-shows and their losses and damage liability where the hotel is at fault.
The number of inbound tourists is increasing every year and even every month, and it follows that the diversity of the guests will also increase. By raising awareness throughout the Japanese service industry, the inbound market will grow further.
