The number of guests using Macau’s hotels and guest rooms rose 6.0% in September, with their average length of stay also increasing to 1.5 nights – just the second time length of stay has reached such heights.
A total of 1,110,000 guests stayed in Macau’s hotels and guesthouses in September, including 769,000 from mainland China – an increase of 8.1% – and 118,000 from Hong Kong, up 12.3%. Guests from Korea (40,000) and Taiwan (41,000) fell by 3.3% and 2.9% respectively.
Occupancy rate for hotels and guesthouses in the city grew slightly to 86.8% with 5-star hotels enjoying occupancy of 88.5%.
Notably, the average length of stay of visitors reached 1.5 nights for just the second time after July 2018. The figure has held steady at 1.4 nights every other month since first climbing from 1.3 nights to 1.4 nights in August 2017.
For the first nine months of 2018, guests of hotels & guesthouses totaled 10,482,000, up 7.8% year-on-year, with average occupancy rates up 3.6% to 89.3%.
