Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited has won three Hotelier of the Year for 2017 awards at the prestigious BMW Hotelier Awards, an annual award presentation highly anticipated by the hospitality sector.
The awards aim to recognize outstanding individuals’ professional excellence across the industry and broaden the horizons for younger generations looking to enter into the profession. It is a celebration of brilliance, the pinnacle of appreciation of the people who bring life to the hotel.
Melco’s three winners were Mary Yip, Director of Spa & Leisure, Studio City Macau, who won the Wellness & Spa Hotelier Greater China Award; Maria Judith S Matubis, Director of Housekeeping at City of Dreams Manila who won the Rooms Hotelier Asia Award; and Michael G Lumbres, Supervisor of Emergency Response at City of Dreams Manila, who was presented with the Unsung Hero Asia Award respectively.
This year, the Hotelier Awards received 578 applications from 72 hotel brands across 16 countries. Melco had seven employees selected as finalists across seven categories. The finalists were carefully judged and examined by a panel of experts consisting of representatives from Forbes Travel Guide, Google, International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM), Les Roches and Edipresse Media Asia Applications, who hold a plethora of industry specific skills and knowledge.
