Wynn Resorts has filed a civil lawsuit against Steve Wynn’s ex-wife Elaine alleging that she copied confidential computer files for her own personal benefit.
The company filed the suit on 28 March, accusing Ms Wynn of breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty and conversion. It is seeking punitive damages and more than US$15,000 in compensatory damages.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the suit likely explains why shareholders failed to endorse Ms Wynn for re-election to the board in 2015 – despite Steve Wynn promising to always re-elect her to the Board of Directors.
The suit outlines the company’s accusations of Ms Wynn as violating the Wynn Resorts’ Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and The Policy Regarding Nondisclosure and Nonuse of Confidential Information that board members are bound by.
