THE Minister for Finance (MOF) has appointed two new members and re-appointed six members to the board of the Singapore Totalisator Board (Tote Board).
Mr Tan Soo Nan has also been re-appointed as the chief executive of the Tote Board. The appointments are effective from Jan 1, 2011. The new board members are Michael Palmer, a partner at Harry Elias Partnership, and Major-General Chan Chun Sing, who is the Chief of Army at the Ministry of Defence.
Mr Palmer’s main areas of practice are in civil and commercial litigation and sports law. His other appointments include serving as Chairman to the Halogen Foundation (Singapore) and as Director of Sata CommHealth. He also provides legal advice to the Malayan Racing Association and the Singapore Turf Club.
Major-General Chan Chun Sing joined the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) in 1987 and was the recipient of the SAF (Overseas) and President’s Scholarship in 1988. His previous appointments in the SAF include Chief of Staff (Joint Staff), Commander 10th Singapore Infantry Brigade, Head Joint Plans and Transformation Department, and Commander 9th Division and Chief Infantry Officer. He also holds other directorship appointments in the Board of Civil Service College and ST Kinetics Ltd.
Re-appointed to the board are Mr Cheah Kim Teck, Ms Chew Gek Khim, Dr Mary Ann Tsao, Mr Niam Chiang Meng, Ms Yong Ying-I, and Mr Ng Wai Choong. The chairman of the Tote Board is Mr Bobby Chin Yoke Choong. Brigadier General (NS) Ravinder Singh and Mr Sin Boon Ann have retired from the Board of Tote Board after serving for four years.
‘The Ministry of Finance and Tote Board welcome the new Board members and express appreciation to the outgoing members for their valuable contributions,’ the MOF said in a statement on Wednesday.
