NagaCorp, the operator of the NagaWorld casino in Phnom Penh, says it hopes to benefit from an influx of affluent Cambodians resident abroad but now returning home because of recession in the United States and Europe.
Dr Chen Lip Keong, CEO of NagaCorp, recently reiterated to investors his company’s advantages: no gearing, maximum table limit of US$50,000, an appeal to a wider demographic than Macau’s VIP rooms in terms of regional mid size players; and best in class facilities in the local market.
NagaWorld is planning to increase its marketing effort in the Indochina catchment area, including attracting more home coming Cambodians.
The government recently estimated that Cambodia’s largely agricultural economy would maintain a five% GDP growth rate despite the global downturn.
