A bridge linking Hong Kong, Macao and the mainland Chinese city of Zhuhai on the Pearl River Delta is expected to start this year, China’s Xinhua news agency reported.
The plan was made public by Du Ying, Deputy Minister of the National Development and Reform Commission, at a news conference on 8th January.
China’s central government will reportedly provide 5 billion yuan (USD730 million) toward the scheme, Xinhua said, adding that at 29 kilometers long, the structure will be the longest bridge in the world.
