Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment has announced the appointment of Christian Block as Regional President, overseeing the company’s international properties in Korea, Canada and Niagara Falls.
Block, whose tasks include ensuring day-to-day compliance and regulatory controls are met within Mohegan’s properties, is no stranger to Korea, having previously served as Executive Vice President at Landing Entertainment Korea where he led the opening of Landing Casino at Jeju Shinhwa World and was responsible for all operational and marketing departments within the company. He was also CEO of Les Ambassadeurs Casino in London – which Landing sold in October 2017 – for nearly five years before his time in Jeju.
Mohegan is set to break ground on its US$1.6 billion Korean integrated resort Inspire in the coming months.
News of Block’s appointment came as Mohegan took over gaming operations at Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Niagara on Wednesday, having won a competitive bid by the properties’ owner, the Ontario Lottery Corp, last year. Mohegan will also operate the 5,000-seat Niagara Falls Entertainment Centre when it opens.
