The number of people entering and exiting Macau hit a new post-pandemic high of 717,197 on Saturday 3 August, helping push total visitor arrivals above 20 million two months faster than last year, according to information from the Public Security Police Force.
Saturday’s figure included 386,714 arrivals and departures via the Border Gate, which was also a new post-pandemic high, while 105,948 passenger trips were made at Qingmao Port, 91,888 via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, and 72,976 via the Macao Port of Hengqin Border Crossing.
The figures relate to all traffic in and out of Macau, comprising visitors but also workers, those visiting family and more.
As of Saturday, the number of visitor arrivals to Macau has exceeded 20 million, reaching the figure two months earlier than in 2023 when total visitor arrivals for the year totaled 28.2 million.
Average daily visitor arrivals to Macau so far this year sits at 93,116, up 36.1% from the same period in 2023 and back to 82.9% of the 2019 figure.
The Public Security Police Force said the summer vacation is the peak period for local residents to travel and for tourists to visit Macau, with the number of arrivals and departures at Macau’s border control points expected to remain high through August.
