The Palazzo Versace Hotel at SJM’s Grand Lisboa Palace (GLP) opened on Saturday, becoming the first Palazzo Versace hotel in Asia.
The hotel, offering 271 suites over 12 floors, is one of three hotel towers at the Macau integrated resort. Hotel facilities include two Italian restaurants, a spa, a private fitness room, and outdoor and indoor swimming pools.
According to Palazzo Versace, the hotel is designed to provide “palatial Italian ambience” through details such as Versace Home fabrics and lighting, Italian terrazzo floors and mosaic tiles.
Aside from being the global fashion brand’s first Asian hotel, the new GLP offering is also just its second worldwide, having launched a hotel in Dubai in 2016.
The opening ceremony of the new Macau hotel was held on Saturday afternoon and attended by SJM Chairman Daisy Ho and Co-Chairmen Angela Leung and Timoth Fok, among other dignitaries.
“The opening of Palazzo Versace makes the Grand Lisboa Palace even more successful, and we are happy that the Group has been able to achieve this result,” said Ho. “We look forward to seeing more and more guests at the hotel in the future.”
SJM recently reported a US$257 million loss for 2023, with GLP itself falling to an Property EBITDA loss of HK$317 million (US$40.5 million).
However, the company said GLP had turned profitable in the December quarter for the first time since launch, generating EBITDA of HK$2 million (US$256,000) on the back of 11.8% quarter-on-quarter GGR growth.
