More than 200,000 visitors arrived in Macau during the first two days of the Dragon Boat Festival holiday on Thursday and Friday.
According to figures released by the Public Security Police Force, a total of around 210,000 visitors entered Macau on Thursday 22 June and Friday 23 June, averaging over 100,000 visitors per day – a new high after the May Day Golden Week holiday period.
On Thursday, Macau saw around 100,000 arrivals and 94,000 departures, while there were almost 107,000 arrivals and 104,000 departures on Friday.
For the full four-day Dragon Boat Festival, Macau saw a total of 366,935 arrivals at an average of 91,733 per day, with Friday’s 106,913 arrivals being the highest single-day tally.
In earlier comments to the media, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said Macau’s tourism industry had regained stability, with a daily average of about 60,000 visitors in June, including between 3,000 and 5,000 international visitors.
There were also a total of 2,213,807 visitor arrivals in May, an increase of 268.5% compared to the same month last year.
