The first facilities of Melco Resorts & Entertainment’s Studio City Phase 2 development will open today, including the Studio City Indoor Water Park and a new hotel tower called Epic Tower.
Melco will hold an official Grand Opening ceremony this afternoon to celebrate the occasion – the first major expansion of Studio City since it first opened in 2015.
The Studio City Indoor Water Park is described as an all-weather and all-year-round indoor water park, featuring 16 attractions, seven state-of-the-art water slides, an indoor-outdoor surfing simulator, two wave pools and a 250-meter action river called Starlight Rapids.
The connecting Outdoor Water Park is scheduled to open on 28 April, bringing the combined area of the two water parks to 26,000 square meters.
“The grand opening of the Studio City Indoor Water Park offers an all-new, all-weather and all-year-round one of its kind unique and exciting water-fun experience for guests of all ages, further strengthening the leisure entertainment components of Studio City making it an unforgettable top-notch entertainment destination,” said Melco’s Chief Operating Officer – Macau Resorts, David Sisk.
“Melco is dedicated to support the Macao SAR Government’s initiative on promoting Macau as the World Center of Tourism and Leisure.”
Also opening today is the first of two new hotel towers at Studio City. Epic Tower will add an additional 338 suites to the property’s hotel room inventory, with Melco revealing each suite will come be equipped with the MelSuite system, accessed through a fully customized digital tablet.
Other features of the hotel will include a pool and fitness center, an infrared room, Himalayan salt sauna room and a spa.
Melco revealed late last year that it would open its US$1.3 billion Studio City Phase 2 development in stages in 2Q23 following a series of delays as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
