Yokohama city announced on Friday that it would establish the Yokohama IR Promotion Council to exchange feedback on issues relating to the IR bid project with Kanagawa Prefecture and the Public Safety Commission.
The first meeting will be held on 17 November to hold discussions as required by the IR Development Act.
It will be chaired by Mayor Fumiko Hayashi, with Kanagawa Prefecture Governor Yuji Kuroiwa and others in attendance. The policy is to invite one representative from each of the prefecture’s Public Safety Commission, the Yokohama Neighborhood Association, the Yokohama Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Yokohama City University to explain the city’s efforts and exchange opinions.
According to the city, the council will sit at each milestone, such as formulating an implementation policy outlining an IR facility and selecting an operator. Yokohama City also plans to set up a selection committee in addition to the council for the purpose of operator selection.
