Casinos in Asia are likely to increase their use of business analytics computer programs to improve their operational and accounting efficiency during the current recession, says a senior information technology consultant.
“In Macau, casinos are usually attached to hotels. In these cases, business intelligence (BI) technology is useful in cross-selling and up-selling,” says Jason Tang, head of practices and solutions at the Hong Kong offices of SAS, a leading business analytics company.
“During the economic downturn, casinos can make better use of BI to understand behaviour of loyal members and increase revenues from each of them,” added Mr Tang.
The casino operators’ retail partners can also use BI to retain customers, he suggested.
