The number of Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) issued by Macau’s casino operators increased 9.5% year-on-year to 1,025 in the nine months through 30 September 2021, including 332 in Q3, according to information from the Financial Intelligence Office.
STRs from casino, or Games of Fortune, operators comprised 52.9% of all STRs for the nine-month period, down from 56.3% through September 2020, with 665 reports from Financial institutions and Insurance Companies and 247 from other institutions.
In total there were 1,937 STRs issued across all sectors compared with 1,663 over the same period in 2020.
The Financial Intelligence Office had previously reported a total of 1,288 STRs for the first six months of 2021 with 693 from Games of Fortune operators, 415 from Financial Institutions and Insurance Companies and 180 from other institutions.
