The AGEM Index – a monthly stock performance guide comprising 12 global gaming suppliers – reached a new high of 1,046.74 points in September, driven by significant increases in the stock prices of IGT and Scientific Games.
The monthly increase, which has seen the AGEM Index almost double from 525.44 points in September 2020, is despite only five of the 12 suppliers involved showing positive momentum.
IGT led the way with its stock price rising 22.5% versus August to US$26.32, contributing 23.20 points to the index, while Scientific Games added 22.67 points as its price rose 14.8% to US$83.07.
The largest negative contributor to the index was Konami Corporation, whose 7.1% fall in stock price led to a 12.14-point decrease in the AGEM Index.
All three major US stock indices decreased over the month, with the NASDAQ and the S&P 500 experiencing declines of 5.7% and 5.0% respectively while the Dow Jones Industrial Average experienced a 4.3% decline.
