SJM Holdings Co-Chairman and Executive Director Angela Leong On Kei says she expects the upcoming “Golden Week” starting 1 October would provide fresh vitality to Macau, but is unlikely to provide much help for the gaming industry.
“I don’t think we will have a sudden change this Golden week,” Leong told local media on Sunday.
“And if we completely relax (entry restrictions and preventive works), something might happen. So it’s better to recover gradually.”
Leong also agreed that the requirement of negative virus test results on all guests entering casinos was necessary, although the policy would affect business to some extent.
Leong revealed that Grand Lisboa Palace, SJM’s US$5 billion integrated resort being developed in Cotai, was currently undergoing government inspections with the company looking to open before the end of the year.
