On 30 July, the executive committee of the previously postponed Universal Carnival x Sammy Festival 2020 announced that the biggest fan event in the pachinko industry would be cancelled.
The executive committee explained it had come to its decision to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
On 1 November last year, Sammy announced that it would co-sponsor the fourth Universal Carnival x Sammy Festival 2020 alongside Universal Entertainment.
This event is known for its exhibits of numerous concept machines to shake up the future of the pachinko and pachislot industry.
This year’s concept was to be “Changing Stages and Beyond.” The previous event in 2018 attracted over 16,000 fans, as well as representatives of pachinko operators and the media.
This year’s event had originally been planned for 22 February 2020 at the Tokyo Big Sight’s Aomi Exhibition Building.
Merchandise for the 2020 event will now be sold from September on the commerce websites of the two companies.
