An employee working at the Happy Valley headquarters of The Hong Kong Jockey Club has tested positive to COVID-19.
According to a statement, the female employee was tested on 15 July and informed she had returned a positive result on 18 July before being hospitalized upon instruction of the Department of Health.
She last attended the office on 13 July and had been working from home since 14 July.
The HKJC said it has communicated to all staff who have had close contact with the infected employee since 4 July and is arranging testing for all. Anyone who works on the same floor as the employee has been asked to stay home and self isolate for the next 14 days.
“The Club has immediately arranged for thorough cleaning and disinfection of the entire floor and places where the infected employee has worked and visited, including common areas such as the lobby on the ground floor, the first floor and the elevators,” The HKJC said.
The HKJC has managed to remain largely unaffected by COVID-19, only last week reporting turnover of HK$121.6 billion (US$15.68 billion) for the recently completed 2019/20 season, down just 2.6% year-on-year.
