Subic Bay authorities have revealed details of a new US$300 million convention resort with casino to be developed in the coastal Philippines’ town.
According to local media reports, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Chairman and Administrator Eduardo Jose Aliño alongside officials from the Subic International Hotel Corporation (SIHC) took part in a ground-breaking ceremony for the new facility late last week, with the first phase scheduled for completion in late 2025.
The project, by an entity called Subic Sun Convention Resort and Casino Inc, will be developed by ACCOR International Group and incorporate two hotels: Ibis Styles and the Mercure.
The project will be developed in phases on land covering six hectares and feature an integrated resort casino complex, the developers explained.
“We are all excited to see the realization of a magnificent architectural concept, which I am certain will steer the economic growth of the freeport to greater heights,” Aliño said.
Sun Convention Resort and Casino Inc’s Chairman and President, Pablo Edgardo Puyat, added, “Both the Ibis Styles Subic and Mercure Subic are in the company’s economy and midscale segments, respectively. Ibis Styles Subic is set to open in 2026 and is the first internationally branded hotel in Subic.”
The last new casino development to open in Subic Bay was in 2019 at Subic Bay Yacht Club, part of a Php500 million (US$10 million) renovation of the impressive waterside property.
