52 G2E ASIA CONFERENCE 2023 | ASGAM.COM SPEAKER PROFILE NICHOLAS KHOO Chief Operating Officer Nicholas brings over two decades of diverse experience to his roles as a co-founder, board member, and committee member in various businesses, non-profits, investment funds, and government. Currently serving as the COO of NASDAQ-listed Global Star Acquisition Inc, Nicholas has also been a member of the investment committees of venture capital and private equity funds. In addition, he has led teams in Asia Pacific and Japan for Visa supporting banks, airlines, and the biggest internet businesses manage their risks for digital transactions, serving on Visa’s Asia Pacific Merchant Sales & Solutions leadership team. Nicholas has chaired multiple national and Southeast Asian initiatives, including an official ASEAN event and an initiative with the Ministry of Education to reimagine education and work for Singapore’s next 50 years. Having served for more than 10 years with the National Crime Prevention Council, Nicholas has also been involved in the setting up of non-profits and a statutory board. During the pandemic, Nicholas mobilised corporates and youths to support vulnerable communities and provided leadership to an esports academy as well as major esports events that have reached millions of gamers globally. Nicholas has taken an unconventional approach to life, turning down prestigious scholarships and dropping out of the National University of Singapore (NUS) computer science program. Nevertheless, he has been conferred a Fellowof the Singapore Computer Society and has been invited as an expert for NUS’ Global Studies Programme as well as Nanyang Tech University Master of Science in Technopreneurship and Innovation.
