KAPLAN Chief Executive Officer James has held senior development leadership positions in Asia and Europe at Marriott International, Kerzner International, IHG, Fairmont Raffles and Minor Hotels prior to his appointment as CEO of Destination Capital in Bangkok, Thailand. Although focused on hotel and mixed-use developments, he has in-depth experience with gaming projects in Asia and maintains a passion for the industry. In addition to his role with Destination Capital, James also serves as an advisor to the Saudi Arabian government supporting the development of a US$52 billion mixed-use project in Riyadh and he serves as advisor to investors with respect to strategic planning and leisure projects. Charity initiatives to promote education in rural areas is an activity James takes great pride in and he successfully launched a sustainable educational fund raising program in central Thailand. James earned a degree in South-East Asian Political Systems from the University of California, Berkeley and a Juris Doctor degree with a focus on real estate law from Golden Gate University, San Francisco.
