In July, Melco announced plans to transform Altira Macau from a VIP property to premium mass following another quarter of subdued results for its original Macau resort. The company revealed that both junket and VIP direct operations at Altira have already been shut down and moved to City of Dreams and Studio City. Steps have also been taken to reclaim Melco’s place as arguably the leader in the live entertainment space. Sisk announced in June a three-year residency show program that will see Cantopop superstars Aaron Kwok, Joey Yung and Leon Lai perform 30 shows each, starting this year. The company’s long-running “The House of Dancing Water” resident show, paused last year due to COVID-19, is also due to return next year following a revamp and upgrade of its City of Dreams theater. At Studio City, a new water park is now open while work is ongoing on other amenities connected to the property’s Phase 2 development. In Sisk’s own words, “We’re focusing in on where our bread and butter is and has always been.
