With the deadline for applying for the Request for Proposal stage passing on 14 February, the prefecture revealed at a press conference that it had only received one application following the withdrawal of both Genting Singapore and Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), with MGM now in prime position to partner with Osaka to develop an IR on Yumeshima Island. Both Genting Singapore and GEG issued statements addressing their decision, with Genting stating, “This is a tough decision for us, and it’s unfortunate after the many exchanges we have had with everyone in Osaka. “In the future, Genting Singapore will focus on participating in the Yokohama IR request for concept (RFC), which is currently underway.
