Inside Asian Gaming
I GT is well known for its strong catalogue of licensed slot games and its casino management systems. That strength is paying off in the Asia Pacific region, with IGT reporting it has captured about a quarter of the market in both of Singapore’s integrated gaming resorts. “This year has really been great for us. Customers once again are in purchase mode. In fact, we’re having our best year in Asia so far,” John Gomes, IGT Asia’s managing director, told us at G2E Asia. “In Singapore, IGT did really well with about 25%market share across both properties. In Resorts World Sentosa we also have IGT Advantage® SMS [slot management system] and in Marina Bay Sands we have IGT Advantage® Table Manager,” adds Mr Gomes. IGT premium products on show at G2E Asia included the Wheel of Fortune® enhanced version complete with big screen (based on the popular syndicated television game show) and Sex and the City™, the slot game themed around the popular and long-running HBO television series. “We look at placing them across casinos in small numbers to create some liveliness on the floor and to give some recognition to the name brand as well,” says John Gomes. “Sex and the City TM is a worldwide launch under licence from HBO and we’re very proud to be partners with HBO. We’ve got the game approved for the Asian markets. In the US, we have over 1,000 units placed to date. We have great hopes and expectations for the product.” IGT Fortune’s Wheel Turns for IGT The gaming manufacturer is having its best year in Asia John Gomes, Managing Director IGT Asia
