Inside Asian Gaming
July 2010 | INSIDE ASIAN GAMING 31 T ransAct Technologies Inc displayed its next generation ticket printer, the Epic Ten80™, at G2E Asia. The Epic Ten80 is up to 30% faster than even the famously reliable and robust Epic950®. The latter is already a hit in Asia Pacific markets, with Melco Crown Entertainment choosing the Epic950 for its entire gaming operation at its City of Dreams resort on Cotai, Macau, when it opened in June 2009. “The new processor we have included in the Ten80 provides more horsepower which allows faster printing,”says Tracey Chernay, now Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for TransAct, an expanded role from her previous job as Senior Vice President, in recognition of her sales and marketing performance for the company. “The Ten80 will also print really robust jobs like say a coupon, very quickly. It also has the capacity to have a game connection and a secondary connection at the same time,” she adds. “It’s really one printer for all game types because it has four different types of connecters built in—two serial, two USB with additional flexibility to support Netplex. So you could have a combination of serial connection for the game and a USB connection for a promotional system for the players. In addition, all the proven reliability features of the 950 we have also put into theTen80,” explains Ms Chernay. The newprinter was first released to the original equipment manufacturers last month. It will be integrated into their products and compliance tested over the summer with the expectation it will be available to casinos in the autumn. “We’re going to continue to carry the 950 and bring on the new Ten80. We anticipate that new casinos are going to want to take a look at both to see which one fits them,” says Tracey Chernay. “The way we’ve built the product gives OEMs the flexibility to decide how they want to configure it. With the two USB connectors, for example, maybe they want a USB game connection and an active USB firmware download connection. It’s the Ten80’s flexibility that makes it a winner.” TransAct The Power of Ten TransAct shows off its next generation printer at G2E Asia TransAct’s Tracey Chernay with the Epic Ten80
