INSIDE ASIAN GAMING | July 2010 28 Weike Gaming Technology Winner Takes All Weike Gaming Technology offers players a new approach to slot tournaments “I nstead of just playing against the machine or against the house, the idea of the tournament function of ‘Winner Takes All’ is it allows the player to play against other players,” comments David Kinsman, CEO of Singapore-based slot machine manufacturer Weike Gaming Technology, about his company’s latest product release. “So it really is a sort of a hunt. When players get into that tournament mode, it’s not the house involved. In fact, interestingly enough, the way the machines work, when it hits the tournament mode and you go into the tournament play, it’s 100% return to player. So even if you don’t win the tournament, and you’ve had some good wins, you can still have quite a successful payout out of just participating in the tournament.” The game offers a four-level mystery jackpot, “and each of the four levels can be tournament, even the lower levels, or it can be a combination of some levels running tournament play and other levels just running a standard mystery jackpot that will go straight to the machine,” adds Mr Kinsman. The key factor behind the development of the Winner Takes All concept was to create a game “where we took the enthusiasm— especiallyof theChineseplayers—where they love tobeat somebody. In this instance, they’ve got the chance to actually eyeball the people that they’re going for, and they can see how they’re going, and they’re chasing each other. Obviously, we’ve given them ultimate flexibility. In the tournament mode they can actually increase their credits and put money into the machine—because it’s their money. They can also go to maximum bet. So they can be betting minimum to get into the tournament, and then the moment the tournament starts, they can be betting maximum. “If they’ve had a big win, they can just stop and wait, because the tournament is a timed exercise, and at the end, the person who has got the most credits on their tournament win meter wins the money that’s up for grabs. Even if you haven’t won the big prize, whatever is on your credit meter, you’ve won.” David Kinsman
