INSIDE ASIAN GAMING | February 2010 22 Feature MGM Grand Macau will kick off its series of celebratory events at 1:30pm on the first day of the Lunar New Year (February 14th) with the debut appearance of the 6-meter long gigantic dancing lion performing the traditional “Plucking the Greens” ceremony at the entrance of MGM GRAND. The gigantic lion will be joined by a troupe of lions and a dragon, as well as the MGM GRAND management team, in welcoming guests to the property. To mark the festive season, the Grande Praça atrium is bedecked with vibrant colours and ornaments, with a huge golden lion taking centre stage and signature pandas featured as New Year mascots. The “Lights & Sounds” show will be projected on the Grande Praça’s European façade every evening until the end of February, and traditional lion dance performances will be held at the casino and the Grande Praça between 15th and 18th February. For gourmands, MGM GRAND’s renowned restaurants will serve up a series of gastronomic delights, which combine traditional culinary excellence with modern innovation. At the Imperial Court, chefs have created dishes with an eclectic choice of ingredients reflecting Chinese ideas of good luck, such as Braised Supreme Shark’s Fin with Crab Roe and Gold Leaf and Baked Sea Whelk stuffed with Fresh Mushrooms and onions. Several excellent Chinese dishes havebeenaddedtothescrumptious buffet selection at Rossio, including Shark’s Fin and Shrimp Dumplings and Crème Brûlée with Oolong Tea. French Brasserie styled Aux Beaux Arts The Grande Praça Tiger’s Palette MGM GRAND Macau will host a wide array of festive events and a series of million-dollar lucky draws to celebrate the new year is launching a degustation menu exclusively for the Chinese New Year, featuring the freshest imported seafood echoing the idea of vitality and dynamism. At the MGM Pâtisserie, uniquely gift-boxed traditional Chinese New Year puddings are on sale. The much anticipated “Million Dollars New Year Celebration” Lucky Draw series features a prize pool of over HK$2,888,888. The Summer Breeze Weekly Lucky Draw runs until 12th February and awards prizes of total value over HK$388,888. The grand finale Chinese New Year Daily Lucky Draws and Major Lucky Draw will take place from 13th to 18th February, with the Winner of the Major Lucky Draw taking home HK$1,388,888. All guests who either book a night in any room or spend MOP500 at any restaurant at MGM GRAND will be entered into the Lucky Draw. Last but not least, in order to support and celebrate the local Macau art scene during the festive season, MGM GRAND has invited several Macau artists to feature their works in an exhibition titled “Spring” at M Bar, located at the hotel lobby, from 12th February until 9th May. Artworks to be exhibited include oil paintings, sculptures and Chinese ink drawings, all making their premier showing in Macau.
