Hong Kong artist Astrid Chan shared her insights into branding with around 100 Macau retailers on Thursday in the first workshop organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) in collaboration with Sands Retail Academy.
The training session opened the “Celebrity Mentor” Workshop Series and was focused on personal branding, tackling matters as how to develop a brand, design a professional image and master workplace etiquette, the MGTO said in a press release.
The event was celebrated at the Adelson Advanced Education Centre and included the presence of MGTO Deputy Director Ricky Hoi and the Chief of Staff of Sands China Limited, Grant Chum, among other personalities.
Sands Retail Academy provides service training for retail professionals, including employees of the tenants of shopping malls under Sands China Limited, the MGTO said. Sands Retail Academy was established in 2013.
Diversifying and enriching the local consumption offer as an alternative to gaming is key for the local industry to adapt to a tourist market that is evolving from a VIP profile towards the mass market.
MGTO said that the total spending (excluding gaming expenses) of visitors in the second quarter of 2018 was MOP$16.5 billion, a year-on-year increase of 20%. Shopping constituted 46.3% of visitor expenditure.
