The France Macau Chamber of Commerce (FMCC) hosted its 2024 Charity Gala Dinner in September at the Grand Ballroom of MGM Macau. Themed “A Journey Through Time and Space”, the event gathered around 300 distinguished guests, corporate executives and government officials from Macau, Hong Kong and other cities in the Greater Bay Area to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic relations.
In his opening speech, FMCC Chairman Rutger Verschuren highlighted the Gala’s alignment with the China-France Year of Cultural Tourism and the FMCC’s key role in promoting cultural and commercial exchanges between the two nations. He also noted Macau’s strategic position as a bridge between mainland China and the world, benefiting from the Greater Bay Area’s prosperity, with Hengqin as its industrial hub.
During the evening, the FMCC launched the “LeBooster Macau Hengqin” initiative, aimed at accelerating international business development aligned with Macau’s diversification goals. Offering services like market research, product testing and company setup, the platform helps French and global companies expand in Macau and Hengqin, reinforcing FMCC’s commitment to economic growth and innovation in the Greater Bay Area.
Additionally, as part of the event, FMCC reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability and community development by presenting the “Macau ESG Awards 2024”, recognizing organizations with outstanding achievements in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. Award recipients included Oxfam Macau for Best NGO, C&C Lawyers & Notaries for Best SME, and MGM for Best Project. The winners were selected by a professional judging panel.
The gala also successfully raised MOP$60,910 for Oxfam’s “Paper Recycling” program. This project aims to boost Macau’s cardboard recycling rate through community engagement, education and environmental protection, aligning with the FMCC’s commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices.
