Foreigner-only casino operator Grand Korea Leisure reported a 115% month-on-month increase in casino sales to KRW41.3 billion (US$30.9 million) in August, also 23.6% higher than the same month in 2023.
The strong result, comprising a 130% sequential increase in table revenue to KRW38.1 billion (US$28.5 million) and 19.4% increase in slots revenue to KRW3.18 billion (US$2.4 million), came off an 8.9% improvement in drop to KRW330.8 billion (US$247 million).
This brings casino sales for the first eight months of 2024 combined to KRW253.1 billion (US$189 million), down 7.1% on the same period last year but on the rise after a slow start to the year.
Table drop of KRW2.49 trillion (US$1.86 billion) through August is up 17.0% year-on-year.
