Korea’s Lotte Tour Development reported casino sales of KRW9.96 billion (US$7.5 million) at its Jeju integrated resort, Jeju Dream Tower, in April, representing a 62.8% increase over March and 369% higher than the same month in 2022.
The improvement came despite hotel sales falling by 29.1% year-on-year, although this increased by 17.7% month-on-month, to KRW6.75 billion (US$5.1 million).
Casino sales included KRW9.08 billion (US$6.8 million) from table games and KRW873 million (US$655,000) from gaming machines.
For the first four months of 2023, casino sales are up 82.6% over the same period last year to KRW26.3 billion (US$19.7 million), aided by a 129% increase in turnover to KRW303.6 billion (US$228 million). April turnover of KRW96.5 billion (US$72.4 million) was flat with March but 254% higher than April 2022.
The tallest building in Jeju at 38 floors or 169 meters high, Jeju Dream Tower features a retail mall, 14 restaurants and bars, an outdoor pool deck, top floor skydeck with lounge, two spas and a casino boasting 150 tables and 300 slot machines.
The casino was relocated from its former home at the smaller Lotte Hotel Jeju in June 2021 and covers more than 5,000 square meters while offering 141 gaming tables, 190 slot machines and 71 electronic table games.
